The importance of water in our life is proved from the very fact that human existence has been possible on earth because of availability of water. Water and food keeps us going. We cannot imagine our life without water.
It is important to fulfill our thirst, maintain body temperature and help in proper functioning of different parts of our body like joints, eye, lungs and kidneys.Even our skull is protected by an outer layer which has CSF liquid, which is primarily water. Our important systems like food digestion through intestine, absorption of required minerals by kidney, production of different enzymes needed for digesting food, production of body regulating hormones are all not possible without presence of water in our body. Thus if we remove water from our body then we shall not survive.
Water has a unique characteristics of dissolving almost anything and everything. A normal person has 50 litres of water which means that an average of 70-75 % of a person’s weight is water. Blood is made up of water, even 20 % of bone structure is water. It is found that 100 grams fat is transformed in 107 grams water. Similarly from 100 gram protein we get 40 grams water. Water is not stagnant in our body. whatever water we consume during the day is excreted out and thus we feel thirsty. Water makes our body fit, keep body temperature in control, flush out toxins from body; it controls the liquidity of blood which help in good blood circulation. Stagnations and thickening of blood means poor circulation to different parts of body and heart. This can lead to weak functioning of particular part of the body, as can be in the case of numbness of any body part or heart disease.
Due to lack of water our body is dehydrated and urine becomes yellow in color. More consumption of water means the kidney is more active and we do not have gall bladder problem.
Water help in digestion also and thus we find people who do not have sufficient water often have gastric, acidity and other digestive problems.
A normal adult person should have 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Women should have more water than men as it help during their menstrual cycle. We should not have water with our food. It should be taken 15 minutes after having food. Have water throughout the day than having 2-3 glass at once and then not having it for next 6 hours.
The most important have pure filtered water, unhygienic water can make you sick than healthy.
