You may have heard a trillion times that Laughter is the best medicine. I have for sure. But I fail to understand why must I laugh when there is medicine. It always seemed such a funny saying. But later when I dug deep into the science of laughing, it struck me exactly why they say Laughter is the best medicine.
So How many times have you laughed today?…… once, twice, or not at all. I am sure you have started thinking and wondering. In today’s world people don’t have time to smile at others forget laughing. Everyone is in a rat race, be it for money, better life, prosperity, name and fame or even survival but one fails to realize that it is important to laugh on a daily basis.
We get depressed easy when we don’t get what we want or when things do go the way you planned. Today 7 out of 10 people are depressed for plenty reasons.
The main reason behind so much disappointment is that we have become very materialistic in nature and are attaching too much importance to materialistic things and the more important things like our health, family etc. then takes a back seat. But one fails to understand that we will not be able to enjoy material accomplishments if we are not healthy…… hence the saying health is wealth is so true in every sense. The best part about this is that being healthy is the most easiest and inexpensive thing to do. Just laugh. Laugh your heart out and see how good you feel.
So what exactly is the meaning behind “Laughter is the best medicine”
Laughing or laughter is not a treatment to any disease or a solution to any problem but it brings in the positive energy…… the feel good factor and a feeling that there are good things that can happen to you or there are good moments to share and this brings in the energy and diverts the mind to find solution to any problem.
Studies have proved that one of the contributing factors for heart diseases is tension. Laughing helps to divert the mind from it. It has also been found that laughing helps in muscle relaxation and blood circulation which eases the tension.
The institutionalization of ‘ laughing club’ is the proof that people are now understanding the importance of laughing and being happy. There are clubs across the world where people meet and laugh……..laugh at themselves, at others, for others, for health and for life.
To sum up all the above, I would just like to suggest that whenever you are depressed, disappointed or you unable to find a solution to any problem……Think of some happy and funny moments from the past which will make you laugh. This will divert you mind, open up your muscles and will keep you away from stress.
Laugh out loud for better healthier you.
