Kidney failure is becoming very common. Kidney is a bean shaped organ which is situated near the lower backbone. Kidney has Nephrons which help in removing impurities from the body through excretion. If there is any problem in our kidney then impurities will remain in our body resulting in many health problems.
When the kidney does not function properly then often the person is advised to go for dialysis. Dialysis is a medical procedure to remove the impurities from our body. In extreme cases kidneys may have to be replaced through surgery.
As per doctors problem in kidney is not easily diagnosed. On the top of that if the patient has diabetes, stone or hypertension then it can be fatal for the person. Dialysis is a temporary solution and moreover it is very costly procedure. As per experts around 25% of the patents do not realise that they have any problem. It is when the situation become very bad that they come to see a doctor.Then the doctors sometimes may have to use high doses of antibiotics and pain killers.
Diabetes is one of the risk factors for kidney problems. In a recent study it has been found that around 30% of the diabetic patient develop kidney problems, and in many cases, people having kidney problem develop diabetes. Thus there is a strong correlation between diabetes and kidney problems. Hence people having diabetes should go for a regular checkup to ensure that their kidney is functioning properly.
Hypertension is also a risk factor that can trigger kidney problems. People having hypertension have twice the chances of developing kidney problem than a normal person.
Kidney problem is basically caused by wrong food habit, unhygienic living condition and alcoholism. Drinking unpurified water and eating stale ,unwashed fruits and vegetables, and street food can often lead to kidney problems.
In a survey it has been found that in industrial areas and slums, kidney problems are very common. The simplest reason is that people live in unhygienic condition and drink unpurified water. Often people living in such places are addicted to alcohol & regularly consume alcohol.
In city, however kidney problems are mostly occurring due to wrong food habits. People regularly consume fast foods such as pizza, burger, pastries and packaged ready to eat food. Such foods are high on preservatives and trans fat which are harmful for our body and the kidneys.
To avoid having kidney problems, it is important to control our diet and follow a healthy life style. Include green vegetables and fruits in your diet. Eat salad, wholegrain and fibre rich food since such foods are easy to digest. Non-vegetarians can eat fish or chicken and must avoid red meat.
Apart from diet, daily exercise and physical activities also help in keeping the kidneys healthy. Kidney is just like dustbins. If we do not keep our dustbin clean , it will make our home sick. Similarly if we do not keep our kidney healthy then we will fall sick.
