Of late I used to feel pain in my knees after sitting on my work table for a while. I thought it was due to tiredness but last Saturday I was shocked to hear that my colleague Shivraman went to Chennai for knee replacement. He was just 45……..
It is usual to see that people aged 50 and above complaining of joint or Knee pain. It is a natural process due to ageing. However if you face this problem at an early age then it is alarming.
Bad food habits and mismanaged daily life affects the metabolism of the body which lead to lowering of ‘ Cynovial fluid’…….a sign of Osteoarthritis’ Osteoarthritis, the most common arthritis type, occurs when joint cartilage becomes worn out or worn down. This is normally a gradual process over time unless due to excessive stress or repetitive movement (like on a job) or as a result of a joint injury. This condition affects the knees and hips most often, but it can also affect any other body joint as well.
The symptom starts from mild joint pain which is mostly neglected by us. The second stage comes when you feel pain on knees after getting up from an hours’ work or so. The pain can increase and you can feel a stretching or a sound of rubbing of bones while climbing down a staircase. The most severe form of Osteoarthritis is redness over joints and swollenness This is the time when most of us go to doctor……but this is too late for treatment.
The solution for extreme osteoarthritis of knee is replacement and surgery only as there is no medication for this yet. However recently in America PEMF tool ( pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) has been invented which can relieve knee pain in 720 hours. PEMF uses electrical energy to direct a series of magnetic pulses through injured tissue whereby each magnetic pulse induces a tiny electrical signal that stimulates cellular repair. Many studies have also demonstrated the effectiveness of PEMF in healing soft-tissue wounds; suppressing inflammatory responses at the cell membrane level to alleviate pain, and increasing range of motion. The PEMF Tools are approved by FDA. However consulting a doctor at the earliest is necessary.
