Many of us have the misconception that it takes long hours of grooming to look good, but actually it requires only a few minutes of time every day. It is important that you know your skin type to be able to choose an appropriate beauty care product or regime and here is how to know what it is:
- Oily skin – This type of skin looks greasy and dull, and is prone to blackheads, whiteheads and pimples. To clean oily skin you should wipe it with the following – a dilute mix of 2 tablespoons of powdered camphor and 100 ml of rose water. Keep it in the refrigerator and wash your face with this liquid 3-4 times a day to keep the oiliness away.
Apart from this, you can use a face pack made up of 1 tablespoon of Fuller’s earth, and ½ tablespoon of camphor powder, sandalwood powder and mint powder, and apply it onto the face and then wash it off when it dries.
- Dull skin – This type of skin lacks shine and luster, and shows signs of dryness and flakiness, and is prone to lines and wrinkles. The best way to clean dull skin is to wipe it with a mixture of rose water and cold milk. Afterwards, apply a face pack made of milk powder, almond powder and china clay powder that has been mixed up in equal quantities. Alternatively, one can use Fuller’s earth and olive oil together with full cream milk and wash it off when it dries.
- Combination- This type of skin is identified by an oily T zone, greasiness on the forehead, nose and chin and dryness on the cheeks. To clean combination skin wipe the face with cold rose water and apply a face pack made of Fuller’s earth and add a pinch of camphor powder onto the T zone. Smear milk powder mixed with rose water onto the rest of the facial area.
Apart from following skin type based cleansing and toning, it is also important to use a suitable moisturizer. Always buy a cream based moisturizer for dull and dry skin and a gel based one for oily skin.
It is also important to drink at least 8 – 10 glasses of water to detoxify your body.
Eat plenty of green vegetables and fruits to get antioxidants. Keep a supply of apples, pears, oranges, sprouted lentils, and carrots handy to munch on. This will keep your energy level higher and bring down the chances of acidity and heartburn.
